Making Space for What’s Next

Letting go

The Power of Letting Go

imagine carrying a heavy bag everywhere you go

Let’s be honest—letting go isn’t easy. Even when we recognize something isn’t working, a part of us clings to it. Maybe familiarity makes it feel safe, or perhaps uncertainty about what comes next keeps us stuck. Either way, holding on can feel like the easier choice. However, the truth is this: you can’t welcome in something new if your hands are full of the past.

Think about it like this—imagine carrying a heavy bag everywhere you go. Inside, you’re holding onto old stories, disappointments, and fears. Some of these, you tell your Self, you should have moved on from by now. Over time, the weight becomes so familiar that you stop noticing how much it’s slowing you down. But one day, you make a different choice. You set the bag down. In that moment, something shifts. Suddenly, you can breathe. You can move. And, most importantly, you have space for something better.

That’s the power of letting go.

Why Holding On Feels Safer

uncertainty is uncomfortable

It makes sense that we struggle to release what no longer serves us. Letting go feels like stepping into the unknown, and that uncertainty can be uncomfortable. Even if something isn’t working, at least it’s predictable. The familiar, despite its weight, often feels safer than taking a leap into something new.

Many times, we convince our Selves that we need closure before we can move on. Other times, we hold on because we believe that with enough effort, things might improve. But what if closure isn’t something you get—what if it’s something you decide?

The truth is, you don’t need to have everything figured out before releasing what’s weighing you down. You only need the willingness to loosen your grip.

What Are You Holding Onto?

Holding on to your past image

Is there something in your life that no longer aligns with who you are? Maybe it’s a relationship that doesn’t fit anymore. Perhaps it’s a version of your Self that you’ve outgrown. It could be guilt, regret, or a belief about what’s possible for you.

Whatever it is, ask your Self: “Is this bringing me peace? Is this helping me grow?”

If the answer is no, then it might be time to let it go.

Letting go doesn’t mean pretending something never mattered. Nor does it require you to feel “over it” before you’re ready. Instead, it’s about loosening your hold and trusting that whatever is truly meant for you will never require you to carry pain as proof of its value.

Making Space for What’s Next

something powerful happens

Once you let go of what has been weighing you down, something powerful happens—you create space. Suddenly, there’s room for new energy, fresh perspectives, and opportunities you may not have been able to see before.

But this isn’t about rushing to fill the empty space with distractions. Instead, allow your Self to sit in the openness for a while. Breathe in the freedom. Notice how lightness feels. And most importantly, trust that what is meant for you will find its way in—now that you have made room for it.

A Gentle Reminder

you may feel the urge to look back

Letting go isn’t something you do once and never think about again. It’s a practice. Some days, you’ll feel completely at peace with what you’ve released. Other days, you may feel the urge to reach back for it. That’s okay. Growth isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress.

Each time you choose to release what no longer belongs to you, you make space for something better. And that’s where the magic happens.
